Skapa spännande kontraster med varma och kalla färger

Create exciting contrasts with warm and cool colors

Colours based on the colour wheel (read more about the colour wheel here) can be divided into two groups: warm and cool colours. Warm colours are on the right side of the colour wheel with colours like red, orange and yellow and often add life to a room. Cool colours create a more calm and relaxing feeling and include colours like blue and purple.

When decorating a room, it is important to think about contrasts, otherwise the interior can easily feel flat and lifeless. This applies to almost all interior design; material, shape and color. To create these contrasts, you can use complementary colors, which are colors on the opposite side of each other in the color wheel. A cool color is always the complementary color of a warm color and vice versa. For example, the warm color green is the complementary color of the cool purple and warm red is the complementary color of the cool blue.

When decorating with posters, it can be very helpful to think about how warm and cool colors interact, or conversely break off to create new impressions. Experiment and find a unique style that suits you.
