Så inreder vi för sommar

This is how we decorate for summer

Summer is a time when the line between inside and outside blurs; we move freely, often with a coffee tray (or grill tray!) on our way in or out. At Designed Posters, we love to think the same way about home decor. Soft contours and flowing materials – think a sheer linen curtain that moves softly in the breeze of a July evening – are combined to advantage with dark details for dynamism. Read more about our and interior designer Åsa Gramén’s thoughts here.

It's easy for spring and autumn to be synonymous with change in our homes, just like winter when we first enjoy Christmas decorations and then experience natural change when the decorations are cleaned up in January. That's why we want to take a swing at summer; this beautiful period that creates new opportunities in and around the home. From May to September, we spend time at home in a different way, especially in connection with the free holiday weeks. This time is therefore as good as any to look over the interior of the home; to sharpen the overall impression and make room for life (such as visiting dinner guests and the children's friends!).

    Dark details add dynamics

In a conversation with Åsa Gramén, interior designer, stylist and photographer, our insights are confirmed – and we are enriched with completely new ones.

    – The bright feeling of summer allows us to challenge the summery. Add more dark details; it creates dynamics in the home!

Åsa is also a strong advocate for daring to scale down the interior design.

    – Make sure that the home feels airy, it creates space for socializing and also peace of mind at a time when we want to gather strength and recharge our batteries.

    Summer paintings set the mood

And speaking of creating space for recreation, Åsa likes to work on blurring the line between indoors and outdoors in the interior.

    – I love decorating summer houses with bright furniture and paintings that allude to summer. Photo art from beautifully summery environments, or graphic posters that portray a sailboat or the sea. It is based on the idea that the place should be associated with leisure, and then combining the indoor environment with nature outdoors provides a pleasant common thread.

    Posters with flowers and shells

Adding summery paintings to your interior is an easy way to create a change for the summer season; and quickly create a feeling that brings to mind vacation. Among our summer paintings we find motifs of shells, beach and sea, as well as flowers, trees and sky. Find your summer painting for your summer house, country house – or why not your apartment in the city, to invite summer into the city too.
